Intel claims edge over AMD on dual core chips
Well, it’s plain to see what the next round of arguments is going to be about. Intel is claiming that it has the technological edge over AMD when it comes to dual core chips. AMD technology has some important limitations, say Intel. The AMD design uses an integrated memory controller on single core chips and uses hybrid transport, leading to problems stemming from a lack of a shared cache. Intel's design exploits a shared cache architecture, which the company claims will give better performance results and will prevent the chip from being tied to one particular generation of memory. Doubtless, AMD will soon respond that it is in fact their technology that is superior for some reason or another. Watch this space.
