MSN Messenger 5.0 for Mac

By Derek Sooman on January 13, 2005, 8:10 PM
Microsoft is expected to release MSN Messenger 5 for the Apple Mac. The software should be released some time in the first half of 2005. There will be improved security, and the ability to add users listed in a company’s Global Address List (GAL) or corporate address book. Also present is the ability to view both personal and corporate messaging accounts from one location. Users will also have display pictures called "User Tiles" in the Mac version.

Nooooo!MSN 4 for the Mac was (barely) usable. Putting Brushed Metal onto it not only breaks the UIG but makes it look vilely ugly.

Why don't you write a better one, then? ;)

For your information, someone DID write a better one. Its called AdiumX, and it is worlds better than MSN 4.0 for mac, it actually lets you use display pictures and has numerous other features. It actually is functional.Due to microsofts seemingly short attention span with its mac products (even though it owns part of apple), it has become abundantly clear that the actual MSN messenger for mac will never be as functional compared to the windows verson. Just use AdiumX.
