By Derek Sooman on April 4, 2005, 11:32 AM
Might we take this opportunity to convey our sadness about the passing of Pope John Paul II, who died on April 2nd at 2:37PM EST. John Paul II served as Pope for 26 years, and served the entire world selflessly during that time. Pope John Paul II's influence spread beyond the one billion Roman Catholics on Earth and into many areas of modern life, including politics. His legacy will be the mark he left on the world.

I'm not Catholic, but Pope John Paul II was a person I respected very much for his ability to touch people all over the world. He will be missed on earth.

I am not a Catholic or a Christian either, but I have been very impressed with what I have read about this man's life recently, and what he did with it.OK, I know its not computing news, but I really did think that something of this magnitude should be on the front page.
