Google launches Gmail security

Google has just launched a security-scanning application for Gmail, permitting the e-mail service to automatically scan for viruses and spyware each time a user sends and receives a message. Gmail now joins the ranks of many other similar offerings from Yahoo and Microsoft to offer security software. It is not certain why Google has waited until now to offer an antivirus application. Google seem unwilling to offer many other details.
