ATI to release AGP versions of X1600 and X1300
Relieving some of the disappointment that the silent majority of AGP users out there have been feeling lately with a lack of AGP card releases comes good news from ATI. The X1600 and X1300, in several flavors, will be made available for AGP as soon as the end of January. Based on the 5xx GPUs, these will apparently be the last AGP cards ATI will offer at this end, with no plans for the X1800 to also appear. This leaves the existing (but very pricey) X850 XT PE as the top-end ATI AGP card, but having a wider variety of cards available for AGP is quite nice. After January, though, it may be the end of the road for AGP as far as ATI and nVidia are concerned. It's nice to know it hasn't been completely abandoned yet though.
