Rumours of a delay with the launch of the PS3 have intensified, with the company waiting for the final specifications, decided by industry consortiums, for the PS3's Blu-Ray DVD drive and input and output technology for video and sound. Everything is happening at the last possible minute. Yesterday Tokyo stock exchange reacted badly to speculation about the launch, with Sony shares falling 3.6% at 5,300 yen.

  1. I am telling you right now. There is no WAY Sony can get it togethor for a spring launch. Besides, if I were them I wouldn't be in a huge rush to get it out the door. The product should be "ready when it's ready" as opposed to something disasterous hardware wise. Besides, any delay can only help the third parites finish their titles for a much stronger game launch offering.Even thought Xbox 360 is gaining market share I wouldn't consider that a loss for Sony. Gone are the days of a single platform of choice. Most people will have both the X-box AND the PS3 once it comes down the channel.Let's face it. Sony IS the King of the hill with the titles, third party support and loyal following befitting a winner. Sony has made this market from being Proactive and not Reactive. The money, lineup, consumers and hype will all be there when...as the 8 years running developers of Duke Nukem Forever would say..."It's done when it's done".
