It isn't easy being IE - especially unpatched. Sites around the web, some estimates putting it at over 200 total with many being legitimate sites, have been compromised with code that will automatically attack and attempt to infect vulnerable, unpatched installs of IE6. This has many people worried. Why though?

The article points out that potentially, this problem is getting much worse - and machines are just getting more and more infected by these recently discovered flaws. While the article mostly just mentions ditching IE, for many people and businesses that is not an option. And, perhaps, upgrading to IE7 when it becomes available also won't be an option. When legitimate sites are being compromised in such a fashion, and a security patch is not yet available, the problem may only get worse.
