Yes, the day will soon come where you will be able to get an HD-DVD drive on your laptop. Those paladins of the HD-DVD standard Toshiba have announced that they are to start selling laptop computers with an HD DVD-ROM drive in Japan in mid-May.

Toshiba, which started rolling out the world's first HD DVD players in Japan at the end of March, had previously said it would aim to launch HD DVD-equipped PCs in the April-June period. The Japan launch is set to be followed by their debuts in the United States and Europe by the end of June.
Toshiba claim that the laptop computer will sell for about 400,000 yen ($3,400). Part of the Qosmio brand, the laptops will play HD DVD content in addition to reading and writing to current DVDs and CDs.
