Nintendo to release the Wii early?

Could we see Nintendo's Wii be released ahead of schedule? A recent article by a CNN columnnist talking about the potential for an early release of the new console has led to speculation that could make many people happy. With Nintendo already manufacturing Wii units that may be ones destined for retail, Nintendo may see a chance to beat Sony to release. That's definitely a good opportunity for Nintendo, who originally appeared like they would be the last to market for this generation of consoles.

Coupled with a low price tag and the relatively good reviews at E3, it's a possibility, especially since Nintendo has not yet announced an “official” release date. While we can never expect too much, it's exciting to think we may see the Wii sooner rather than later.
