The repeated news of battery recalls following Sony's manufacturing mishaps is getting quite tiring. Unfortunately it doesn't really seem to be coming to a quick end, and most recently Sony has decided to pull a number of their own batteries. In Japan and China, Sony is recalling 90,000 units, due to the same defects seen with other vendors units. The financial impact is finally beginning to take a toll on Sony, who claim it may affect their earnings:

"We are in the process of determining whether a revision to our annual earnings outlook is necessary, taking into account various factors that could affect our group earnings," the electronics and entertainment conglomerate said on its Web site.
Considering they are still in the recall process, and the replacement program has barely begun, it seems likely that they will slip much more than the 43% they already have. Will the PS3 be their saving grace? Somehow, I doubt it.
