AMD posts disappointing 4th quarter
A bit of bad news for AMD at the end of 2006, it seems the fourth quarter did not treat them well. Even though the Opteron continues to make waves, they only saw a marginal 3% increase in sales, nowhere near what they'd initially hoped for:
AMD said that that its margins and profits were hit by "significantly lower microprocessor average selling prices" which dampened "a significant increase in unit sales."
The full report with figures won't be available until later on this month. Likely the raving success of the Core 2 Duo has had some impact on this, and we can only hope it inspires AMD to give us a better answer than that the 4x4.
