DirectX 10 for everyone?

With upcoming games like Halo 2 and Crysis requiring DirectX 10 in both hardware and software, it comes as a welcome surprise that a group has managed to release a preview build of a project which promises to bring DirectX10 compatibility to Windows 2000 and XP when completed. The Alky Project is also working on bringing Windows-only game releases to other platforms, like OS X and Linux.

this is great, this means we'll no longer have to be stuck on windows. gaming capability has been the biggest barrior of entry for OS's like Linux and OSX. if they succeed, this will not only lower give the end user more freedom, it'll also lower the demand and pricing for microsoft's products.
"this will not only lower give the end user more freedom" LOL

Bye bye Vista; you are not needed anymore; not that you were wanted in the first place anyway. DX10 for XP..... superb.
