Optimus keyboard enters pre-order phase

By Justin Mann

Every few months, we hear about the Optimus keyboard. We hear it is on schedule, we hear everything is going well. Of course, it's all on paper. Now, the Optimus LED keyboard is supposedly entering its pre-order phase, giving those with a good chunk of a change and an eye for the interesting gadget to reserve theirs. They certainly aren't cheap, with the first 200 units already being pre-sold at over $1500 each.

Now, when January rolls around and those users are supposed to be receiving their units, will they? The 3-key unit that was hyped so much was met with delay after delay, so I wouldn't hold my breath. The proof will be in the pudding on this one.

  1. $1500 for a keyboard. Thats reasonable/
  2. I want this more than I want HD TV! But like HD TV, I'm willing to let the technology mature and the early adopters pave my way to a less expensive version of the same. The cool-factor here is pretty high. But back in my mind, I seem to recall an early review that showed some real limitations in the life of the OLED's and limitations on the graphics/animations of the keys.I look forward to reading a review on how well a production keyboard works.
  3. you would be KING of ANY lan with one of these
  4. Dudes...can you imagine holding this thing above your head at a LAN, while all the lesser geeks crawl at your feet.Heck yeah its worth it.
