Further moving into the mobile space, Google has acquired “certain assets and technology” of Zingku, a mobile social network startup that helps users create and exchange things of interest with other people in their network via the web and text messaging.

The service uses text messaging to provide a platform for users to share things like invitations, 'mobile flyers' and pictures with friends over the phone. Furthermore, the SMS service integrates with a personalized browser-based service to make it easy to share things with other people in your network.

The move has caused rampant speculation among Google-followers about the company’s rumored plans to roll out a mobile phone that takes true advantage of the mobile web and how exactly will the search giant use Zingku's technology. While that likely won't be known for some time, the acquisition further highlights how serious Google is when it comes to the mobile space.
