T-Mobile Germany stops selling unlocked iPhones

Last month, T-Mobile Germany began selling iPhones without a contract to comply with a temporary injunction issued after Vodafone challenged its exclusive tie-up with the device. However, the company is once again selling only locked phones after a German court today dismissed Vodafone’s complaint.

During the period the injunction was in effect, T-Mobile offered unlocked iPhones for €999 (almost $1,500). The challenge by Vodafone could have threatened Apple’s revenue sharing arrangement with its partners, which reportedly have agreed to share an estimated 10 percent of iPhone monthly subscription revenue with Apple. Unlocked iPhones can still be bought in France through mobile operator Orange for €649, plus a €100 unlocking charge.
