Intel cancels 7 Core 2 Duo and Celeron CPUs
As demand for certain CPUs wane, manufacturers inevitably cease offering them to focus on newer models. Such is now the case with several of the original Core 2 processors, and as a result Intel is pulling several of these models from the market. The Core 2 Duo will have five models pulled, including the T7200, T7600, T5500 and T5600. The Celeron M will also have two models pulled, including the 520 and 530.
Depending on the CPU in question, orders for these CPUs won't be taken after May of this year. However, shipments may continue as far as July of next year. Interestingly, there are many other models that sit between these ones, such as the Core 2 Duo T7500, that are not being canceled just yet.
