700MHz auction ends at $19.5 billion
The 700MHz auction has been rather quiet lately, due to it happening behind closed doors. It's wrapping up now, though, and greatly surpassed the $10 billion to $15 billion the FCC had forecasted. The final auction made it all the way up to $19.5 billion, a truly massive amount. Who exactly won the C block of the spectrum isn't mentioned, and won't be announced just yet.
It'll still be nigh-on a year before the spectrum is usable, and perhaps another year before it really begins to be utilized. However, it'll be very interesting to see what vendors forked out this huge amount of cash and what their intentions for it are.
