Dell offers $879 Blu-ray supporting Inspiron

With HD DVD completely out of the picture, there are fears that Sony and other members of the BDA could take advantage of the situation and begin price gouging. That's why some recent news out of Dell are encouraging. Their new Inspiron 1525 laptop will feature a Blu-ray player and will sport a retail price of only $879.

The laptop features a 15.4” widescreen display that can handle 720p resolutions and an HDMI port, making it ideal for Blu-ray movie viewing on the go. The price point is about average for a laptop, but still something we aren't used to see for machines that come stock with hi-def players. Since it is also backwards-compatible with DVD and CD, it would be a pretty seamless way to have Blu-ray support.
