It appears that the latest Penryn-based updates to the popular MacBook lineup have proven troublesome for many, with Apple acknowledging an unusual video problem plagues their latest shipment of MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

In particular, users have complained of consistent flickering images during QuickTime video playback and instances of graphics corruption on their machines when scrolling through Safari webpages or email messages. So far the matter appears to be software-related, with some notebook owners claiming that the issues became noticeable only after installing the Leopard Graphics update that was released alongside the recent Mac OS X 10.5.2 update. Though this remains unconfirmed, Apple is believed to be working on a fix that should come with Mac OS X 10.5.3.
