Microsoft to release Windows 7 multi-touch SDK in October
Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer may have just offered an early glimpse of Windows 7’s multi-touch capabilities at D6 earlier this week, but the company is apparently already looking toward the release of an SDK for the new technology.
Details are unsurprisingly scarce at the moment, but the SDK is supposedly slated for release at this year’s Professional Developers Conference in October, where the software giant is expected to highlight the new multi-touch gesture APIs and explain how developers can leverage them in their applications. How much value will multi-touch technology bring to everyday computing beyond just rotating and resizing stuff is still rather questionable, but it is nonetheless interesting to read about Microsoft’s progress and plans for its next operating system.
