MSI launches sub-$500 10" Wind notebook
This year’s Computex is all about the so-called low-cost notebooks, it seems. The MSI Wind today became one of the most recent competitors to the Eee PC in the tiny netbook category, and it looks like its specs and pricing were enough to earn it some praise all over the web.
Specs for the Wind remain unchanged from those we saw last month, including a large 10-inch 1024×600 pixel display, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM (expandable to 2GB), 80GB hard drive running at 5,400rpm, integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, integrated Wi-Fi, and a 6 cell battery that lasts more than 5 hours on a charge. Of course the part that everyone will want to know about is pricing, and at either $399 or $499 for the Linux and Windows XP versions respectively, MSI looks to have a winner on its hands. You can check out the full press release on the MSI Wind for more details and also an early review over at Laptop Magazine.
