Xbox 360 price cut results in Japan sales hike
The Xbox 360 price cut may have been Microsoft's big break in Japan. For the first time since the console began competing with Sony and Nintendo in their homeland, the 360 actually manage to top sales of both consoles – if only for a week. If the data can be taken at face value, the sales of the 360 in Japan have skyrocketed due to the price cut, selling exponentially more than it did the previous week.
The figures look promising for Microsoft, and perhaps the price barrier was a bigger hurdle than initially imagined. They will probably never be able to actually catch up to Sony in terms of sales, but at the very least they have opened up a new market for the console.
