Originally set to be released this year, Electronic Arts has announced that it has canceled the upcoming Command & Conquer first-person shooter spinoff, Tiberium. According to the company, Tiberium was "not on track to meet the high quality standards" EA sets for its games.

While this is certainly bad news for fans of the Command & Conquer and perhaps a costly move by EA, canceling a fairly high profile game for quality reasons at least shows that the company is being serious with their recent push to create great, original games rather than keep churning out poorly-made ones just because it makes sense financially. This mentality might not sit well with investors, but will end up benefiting the company in the long run.
