Ever since Netflix launched their Roku streaming device earlier this year, many other companies have sought to make hardware or software solutions to stream from their service . Earlier this month, the PlayOn beta was released and demonstrated that even consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3 were suitable platforms for Netflix playback. Now Samsung is in on the game, with the launch of new firmware for two Blu-ray players, making them capable of streaming Netflix video.

The update is the result of a recently formed partnership between the two companies. Both the BD-P2500 and BD-P2550 have the updated firmware available, and those who already own the players can get it online. You'd think that Netflix wouldn't be so quick to let other companies allow streaming on their own hardware, as it could detract from sales of the Roku, but clearly that's not the case.
