Toshiba launches triple-GPU laptops
Last week, AMD touted the first laptop “from a major manufacturer” to feature a couple of ATI Mobility Radeon GPUs in CrossFire mode, the Alienware M17. It’s for the green team to enjoy the limelight, though, with Toshiba announcing the three-GPU Qosmio X305.

The 17-inch laptop comes with an integrated GeForce 9400M for quiet day-to-day work on battery power, but has a pair of GeForce 9800M GTS cards in SLI mode that can kick in when you need faster gaming performance. The system is available in two models – the Qosmio X305-Q706 and X305-Q708 – starting at $1,999 for the former with a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor, 4GB of DDR3 1066MHz, and a 320GB 7,200rpm hard drive.
For those with deep pockets, the $4,199 Qosmio X305-Q708 beefs things up with the addition of a quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme processor running at 2.53GHz and a 128GB solid-state drive. Both versions of the Qosmio notebooks are available now from Toshiba Direct.
