LG working on 12MP camera phone, the megapixel race is on
LG recently disclosed to the press that they are working on a new camera phone with a 12 megapixel sensor that is slated for release later this year. Though admittedly bigger is not always better, LG feels compelled to move forward having to match other competitors' features.

With this it becomes evident that the megapixel race has moved from standalone digital cameras to the ones built in phones, too. LG hopes to compete with other similar offerings like the Sony Ericsson Idou that was the first 12MP camera phone to be announced during this year's Mobile World Congress.

is pretty much over... people have started to find out,
through the internet and word of mouth, that MPs matter only
until a point and that the lens and other components are of
higher importance for a better picture. What is truly impressive is the HD 720p recording capability that comes with the new CMOS. Not sure if LG will implement it or not, but SE already demoed it. Sure, they can't rival a dedicated HD camcorder, but neither can a camera phone handle a modern digital camera.

general use? Will the professionals use a camera attached on
a phone even tho it has 12MP? Well, i don't think
so. I think those kind of disclosures are for marketing purpose. To make customers insist, like 'LG's the best in camera phone', 'LG are overwhelming SE in camera phone'...
