Although I'm completely in awe of your formidable manipulation of binary mathematics, the 4X "quad pumped" multiplier is actually indicative of DDR2, not DDR.
I know that's what you meant, and I'm sorry for even mentioning it.
Is nvidia going to release some cards that are DX11 fully, but have no power connectors?
Whether the HD5850 comes down in price is likely dependant upon how many GTX470's hit the retail channel. If the numbers are low or out of stock all the time (similar to the HD5970/GTX285 for example) then there will be no pressure on AMD to cut prices at all- in fact the opposite could well be true. If the GTX470 is in short supply, then many who were putting off upgrading until the launch- either with thoughts of getting a GTX, or like you, hoping for AMD price cuts will be faced with a further potential long wait for further GTX stock or buying a HD 5850 (or 5870, 5770 CF) now - creating more demand for AMD cards. Greater demand usually leads to higher retail pricing, if not MSRP.
i was thinking that the new nvidia card would be in a other level and that ati would have to get other card on the market... =P But 5-10% if somewhat of a good difference in the graphic market. I'm gonna wait for the true benchmark tought
Agreed.Probably not good economics.
The only saving grace here is nVidia's investment in TWIMTBP. If AAA titles continue to be launched under that banner then AMD/ATI will be caught in a perpetual game of catch-up with their driver support which will inflate nV's fps benches for those titles as they release-this will possibly close the perceived gap in a few gamers eyes.
No worries captain. I was never going to make a good Math teacher !
Probably still less of a problem than having no new cards out.
Btw: The HD 5850 and 5870 pricing is higher now than it was at launch - at least in major markets.
Not too shabby. Will be interesting to see how the benchmarks compare to the hd 5870
GTX 480 is cool... Kick some more...
Why the 384bit interface? What happened to the 448bit? I'd think they'd make these pump at least 512bits.

By like $40-$50 dollars for 5850 if not more I believe which is
, even the 57xx series is slightly higher then original MSRP. Lets hope the prices drop on them but I doubt mainstream cards like 57xx will since Nvidia has no competition there. A drop below $300 to ~$285 would be great for the 5850.
OMG imagine 2 of the 480's with a i7 980X(6cores 12mb cache) and the new kinston 2400mhz ram ............druling
I need more monney
anyone want to lay bets that ATI has silicon that has shaders and ROP's that have not been fuse locked for a refresh within a few days of the team green launch? perhaps cards of the 5XXX flavor ending in 80 and or 90? with a six month+ lead on Nvidia, that's what i would do.....but then I have no "business ethics" :P
while everyone is going crazy buying up the new nvidia stuff maybe i'll actually be able to get my hands on a 5870 for a decent price...
We will have to take these to the scorecards.
I'm hoping the 480/470 and the 5870/5850 will turn out like the Pacquiao vs. Clotty fight, with Pacman being Nvidia, hehe.
I am waiting to see some benchmarks. I have herd all the hype surrounding the launch now it is time to put up some numbers. If the performance is indeed 5 to 10 percent higher than ATI, I will not purchase at these prices. As ATI appears to have a better value.
I more likely to go w/ ATI again just because prices on 5870s will probably come down some... plus i'm still happy with my 4870s
I'm not sure if anyone notices, but the TDP is insanely low. High end graphics for medium PSU systems? Truly nvidia is a blessing right now.

I guess you missed the specs for the comparable HD 5870 and 5850 cards, which are rated at 188 and 150 (respectively), as far as I can tell from posted specs throughout the web... Well below what these new nVidia cards are boasting. So, I guess ATi is the true blessing in the marketplace right now?

Haha and LOL,
1) a newborn child.....support for Haiti ....those are blessings. a graphics card is not.
2) see the post immediately below yours.
"Truly nvidia is a blessing right now"
christ man, at least try to veil yourself.
Hi Red, I was picking these late posts as clumsy attempt at sarcasm....or the product of an extreme case of fetal alcohol syndrome.
Hi D,
just hard to pass up , are they not?
Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep... I Praythe Lord, Blah, Blah, Blah
And God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Spot, but most of all God bless Nvidia.... (Who else would provide me with an energy efficient video card, so I can piss my life away, without being hassled by my parents over the electric bill)
And when I can't get to sleep, I count dead hookers in GTA.

I liken it to my St.Paddy's day/night....
They're like the last few glasses of Jameson's in the wee small hours. You know full well that it's gonna cost you some brain cells and you'll feel bad later...but before you know it...ah, what the hell!...and you're suddenly looking at an empty glass- or cranium as the case may be.
EDIT: Think I might just have to avoid the forums when the benches come out. Could be a full-scale fanboy'n'troll war (handbags at ten paces). Pity AMD can't get Phenom II X6 and Magny-Cours out the same week....one week of petulant adolescence rather than a drawn out fanboy decathlon.

Although, this behavior might have been better than red's and mine. We spent the entire evening trying to alienate the entire Dominion of Canada.... Should we sing now....?
It will be interesting to see what the 5870-pricing will be?godowsky on

oy, I just got an retro-active headache. reminded me of years ago in a pub called Claddagh's. The bartender became quite liberal with samples of every Jameson variation they had. I fell in love with a particularly smokey flavored one and after a $73 cab ride home, i spent the next 24 hanging on for dear life....and the throne......good times....good times....
....oh Canada...my home and......
