In an attempt to further propel its anti-piracy message, a Finnish organization known as the Copyright Information and Anti-Piracy Center has launched a new website (piraattilahti.fi) which shamelessly duplicates the look and feel of the The Pirate Bay. Piraattilahti, by the way, supposedly translates literally to "pirate bay" in English. As a result, the Pirate Bay has threatened the CIAPC to a legal throw-down, taking the organization to court with the intent to sue them for copyright infringement.

"We are outraged by this behavior," a spokesman from TPB told TorrentFreak. "People must understand what is right and wrong. Stealing material like this on the Internet is a threat to economies worldwide. We feel that we must make a statement and therefore we will sue them for copyright infringement."
Not only does the website's similarity look uncanny, but the CIAPC actually copied TPB's CSS style sheets -- make no mistake, this was intentional.
Unlike the Pirate Bay though, clicking any links or performing any searches on the Pirate Bay clone directs users to a page which offers public resources for legally sanctioned downloads, namely dwnld.fi and pro-music.org.
Interestingly, The Pirate Bay's usage policy states specifically that unauthorized reproduction of its design constitutes a minimum fee of €5,000, or about $6,650 USD. It's unlikely the CIAPC has offered to cough up that fee though, leading TPB to threaten legal action.
It's difficult to tell how tongue-in-cheek TPB is being about this one. It's worth pointing out that the Pirate Bay's own design borrows heavily from Google -- a minimalistic page with an "I'm Feeling Lucky" button nestled directly below a neatly centered search box. During the height of its legal troubles, TPB also offered its entire website as a downloadable torrent -- unusual behavior for an enterprise interested in protecting its brand.
"We feel that we must make a statement and therefore we will sue them for copyright infringement," the Pirate Bay's spokesman added.
If The Pirate Bay does make good on its threat to sue, it could be an interesting case to follow.
Let's see how this is progressing. Is there a clear cut winner in this Elizabethan drama yet?
"To share, or not to share, that is the question"
"Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous copyright and internet legislation".
Or take arms against a sea of oppression, and download everything you can get your varlet's hands on"....!

"A torrent, a torrent, my kingdom for a torrent".....
(They dug king Richard number 3 of England up a couple of weeks past. So, I thought I'd liven this post up with a bit of his BS too).
But my personal favorite is this; "now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer by this son of York"!
(Right, like the "discontent" is ever going away at Techspot......

It must be burning Hollywood alive to know that TPB is doing this.. and that they are actually in the right. ![]()
How can they infringe anything? It's a gothic font and a silhouette of a BOAT for goodness sake. Those piratebay geeks are pretty foolish - I watched half of this faux "Documentary", "AFK", on YouTube, and had to turn off after half an hour; talk about TOTALLY unrepentant and no sign of shame or humility in the presence of people determining YOUR FREEDOM.
Ahoy there mateys, I just checked back in to see if either crew has managed to fire the winning "broadside", that will sink the other crew's website. (Er, I mean "ship"
. ARGH.....!!!
