Modular smartwatch Blocks hit Kickstarter last October in hopes of securing at least $250,000 in funding to move the campaign forward. All said and done, the campaign generated over $1.6 million from more than 5,000 backers. In the event you missed out, now's your chance to get in on the action.

Blocks Wearables is now accepting pre-orders for its modular smartwatch in your choice of onyx black, sunrise red and marble white. You'll pay $330 for the opportunity which includes four modules (links) of your choosing.

Six different modules will accompany the smartwatch at launch: a battery module, a programmable button module, a flashlight module, a GPS module, a heart rate module and last but not least, an adventure module which combines a humidity, pressure and temperature sensor into one. Additional modules will sell for $35 a pop.

As the Kickstarter campaign has highlighted, a modular smartwatch is an intriguing product.

It comes at a time when modular electronics in general are still in their infancy. Project Ara, the modular smartphone from Google, arguably jumpstarted the modular race but we're still waiting on its arrival. LG gave it a shot with its G5 smartphone and modular "Friends" but ultimately came up short. Motorola may be on to something with its brand new Moto Z line although we'll have to wait and see how that pans out.

Blocks Wearables expects to ship its smartwatch in October of this year.
