Power Consumption & Temperatures

Being the first GPU to use the 40nm design process, the Radeon HD 4770 is very efficient. Under full load the Radeon HD 4770 uses just 224 watts of power, making it 5.5% more efficient than the GeForce 9800 GT and 12% less power hungry when compared to the Radeon HD 4830.

Despite being a low powered graphics card, the Radeon HD 4770 is still a hot little bugger. This is largely due to the fact that ATI cannot work out fan profiles. The idle temperature of the Radeon HD 4770 is shocking, as the card never dips below 70 degrees, even when inactive.
