When uploading a 6GB ISO file to the TS-412, it averaged a transfer speed of 43.7MB/s, which works out to 10% slower than the Thecus N3200XXX. Despite that victory, QNAP's offering was 52% slower than our low-end desktop system, as few affordable NAS devices perform well when uploading.

You'll notice that our desktop slows down dramatically when transferring multiple files, shrinking the gap between the TS-412 to 31% -- though Synology's NAS still led QNAP's by 18%.

We found the TS-412 to be just 11% slower than our desktop when measuring upload performance using our program test, and it again landed between the DS211 and N2A2.
