To test power consumption, we removed the X460's battery and measured the power it drew from the wall. At idle, it consumed just 14 watts, the lowest level we've seen from a high-end device. That changed under load, as Core i7-2630QM processor slurped 81 watts, making the X-Slim X460 a fairly power-hungry device.
Above are the results from Battery Eater v2.70. The "stress" test represents a gaming scenario, if you were to play using the battery alone the X460 would only last a little over an hour. That said, few would use this notebook for gaming, making the "readers" test more relevant. In this scenario the X460 lasted 5 hours and 41 minutes.
