Power Consumption & Temperatures

Despite providing a respectable performance boost over AMD's reference design, Gigabyte's Radeon HD 7950 only consumed a hair more power, which, incidentally, is a fraction more than the old HD 5870 and HD 6950. Impressively, Gigabyte's HD 7950 also used less power than the GTX 560 Ti.

Gigabyte claims that running the three fans at their full speed of 4200RPM, the Radeon HD 7950 will never exceed 46 degrees. This was hard to believe before testing the card, but when remaining almost silent, it only reached 59 degrees – 24% cooler than a standard HD 7950 in our tests.
