Our first batch of PCmark05 results are very interesting as they show the AMD processors delivering particularly strong “graphics” performance. According to this synthetic benchmark the Phenom 9500 and Athlon64 X2 5200+ scored 13000+ pts. when paired with a GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card. Strangely enough, our Core 2 Extreme QX6850 using the same graphics card managed just 11201 pts. While this is odd, the CPU results appear to be on par with what we have seen in previous synthetic benchmarks. Here the Phenom 9500 is 22% faster than the Athlon64 X2 5200+, while it was 17% slower than the Core 2 Quad Q6600.
Both AMD CPUs were dominated by the Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Core 2 Extreme QX6850 processors in terms of memory performance. Interestingly, the ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe motherboard showed better hard drive performance when compared to the ASUS P5E3 Deluxe.
