Hi I have just installed gfw LIVE Client and have a registered ID with LIVE. When I try to connect the username and password are accepted and the target screen appears but then so does:
"Games for Windows - LIVE Client has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
No clues, no hints!
I have re downloaded the client file and re-installed but no joy.
I am using XP with SP3. Any ideas would be appreciated

There have been other current threads about this problem. Sounds like MS needs to revamp the program!

Hi thanks for your time. Seriously unimpressed with g4wl and its approach. All I originally wanted to do was to buy two DLCs which has to be done via g4wl. So download client, .net3.5 + SP1, then windows updates all leading to the failure which brought me here.
Still cannot get my client to access the webpage. However did it all again on an adjacent 'clean' machine and it worked. Registered, bought tokens (forced into a surplus - nice little earner!!) and fired off the downloads. Found the downloads (no clues where they were), transferred them to my machine and manually installed the DLCs!! Taken a full day.
I feel a bit better now!! Thanks again.
