i have

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400-cpu
Antec Nine Hundred-case
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA-mobo

i was leaning towards

EVGA 512-P3-1151-TR GeForce GTS 250-video card
Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB-hard drive
LG GH22NP20-optical drive
Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W-power supply

also the budget is around $410
thanks in advance for the advice/suggestions

Use a 64-bit Operating System, (if running Vista) and install 4 GB memory, mached to your motherboard's specs

It will be almost impossible to put together an Intel gaming PC for $410 for the parts that you want.. For $630 I put this together quickly. Make changes to w/e you want, it is YOUR computer. But for the price the quad core is a better buy.

The HD 4870 is a much better choice compared to the GTS 250. But if the 4870 is out of your budget, go with the NVIDIA card then.
