A URL no longer works as a hyperlink?

Once upon a time i could create a hyperlink in a TS post for the url below

http://jdvoicemail.altervista.org/imagenes/audioguide.pdf

Copy/paste the url into your browser and it works

Yet here's same url in a TS post as a hyperlink
test link (http://jdvoicemail.altervista.org/imagenes/audioguide.pdf)

Hmmm I don't get it. Do you mean the forum is not parsing the URL to make it a link automatically when posted as is?

I mean that i copy the URL directly to my browser window - and it works.

Yet if i highlight text, then use the hyperlink button to paste the URL into the hyperlink box, click OK to create a link in my TS post, the link subsequently fails?

Testing...

Link pasted directly:
http://www.techspot.com/news/34806-google-touts-even-faster-chrome-browser.html

Link embedded in text (http://www.techspot.com/news/34806-google-touts-even-faster-chrome-browser.html)

Seems to be working fine... ideas?

sorry. you misunderstood me.

I regularly embed URL/links into text in my TS posts without problem. It's specifically just the one URL in particular that seems to be causing the problem

Try clicking here (http://jdvoicemail.altervista.org/imagenes/audioguide.pdf)

Then try copy/pasting the same underlying URL to your browser
http://jdvoicemail.altervista.org/imagenes/audioguide.pdf

btw.. this problem (with this specfic link) just started within last coupla months. As i know i used to provide to people in prior posts (no problem) but have just noticed problem embedding that link starting couple months back.

Ok I get it now. It seems to me that the server you are linking to has been configured to prohibit external linking to PDF content and that's the source of the problem, nothing to do with TechSpot or the forum for that matter.

Ahhh... Thank you so much for that answer.

It seemed it would likely be somehow related to the server but didn't know how that might be.

Now i do. Thanks :)
