hello,
this is my first Thread in this forum. i hope you can answer me :) . and i'll be thankable.

i have read about Split parameter for ghost.exe, bur really i didnot understand it. and how it works.

what i understood is : i have a large image and the paramter -split is used to partion it to small parts like this :
ghost -split=700 -auto
i tried to do this but it just opened the ghost.

so, how -split work ?
- split an exist image ?
- or when it produces a new one it make small parts as i determined e.g. -split=700 ?

thanx for your time

I use Drive Image, so don't know your exact syntax.
You must tell Ghost BEFORE you make the image, to split it up in portions of let's say 700MB each or less. It then creates several files of 700MB plus one with the rest. You can burn those to a CD either during ghosting or afterwards.

Look for the likes of EZ-split from http://www.sanderssw.com/
to split up an existing big file.

New for V2.09: Maximum segment size when splitting to a hard drive has been increased to 9999 MB (So you can now create 100MB chunks for ZIP disks, 650MB chunks for CD-R, etc)

If you want your images to be small enough to later burn onto a CD, type "ghostpe.exe -split=640 -auto" to activate spanning at 640MB and auto-naming.

I know this is an old topic, but this information is incorrect.
