Microsoft today held a summit with members of the E-Mail Service Provider Coalition to discuss how "Sender ID" technology can be used to combat spam (http://news.com.com/Microsoft+touts+%27Sender+ID%27+to+fight+spam%2C+scams/2100-1029_3-5307339.html?tag=nefd.top).

Microsoft believes Sender ID is the answer to this problem, that is plaguing the internet. I am sure you are all aware of the vast problem of spams about viagra, genital extensions creams and get rich quick rubbish that pollutes your inbox on a regular basis.

Sender ID validates the server Internet Protocol address of the sender, to assure an e-mail recipient that a message claiming to be from a sender actually is from that sender.

Several companies have, in addition to Microsoft, planned to release products that are based on this technology.
