There's a strong suggestion that new, mainsteam level Pentium 4 chips will be coming out, based on the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition and packing 2MB of in-core L2 cache (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/08/31/intel_p4_6xx/). This Pentium 4 6xx series may well debut early next year.
More like a Pentium 4 than a Xeon, the new chip will be the first 90nm (http://www.intel.com/research/silicon/nanometer.htm) P4EE, and will be the first P4EE to carry a model number. Clock speeds of up to and over 4GHz are expected.
