Sims 2 Help

Hey, i am trying to play the sims 2 and i keep getting this error messag that says that i need a directz 9.0c grapics adapter. I have tried to download everthing and nothing works. Usually, if the hardware isn't too ancient, it's just a matter of having the latest drivers.
