Hi there.

My specs are:

2.5 ghz intel
geforce 6200
1 gig ram
350 wtt pwr supply
Atl Audio
80 gig hddr

Hi there i play cs 1.6 and i recieve between 40-60 when there are more then 10 ppl in a server. When i hit smoke or combat my fps decreases. I have done all the basics. vsync off, developer 1, cmdrate 100, updaterate 100 , rate 2000, Anitilzing off, updated drivers/spyware cleaner. My computer should run more then 60 fps, can someone please help? If i have a ****ty audio card could that decrease fps? I have also updated my chipset drivers. Could any bio information be wrong? PLEASE HELP

I have ran out of ideas on how to increase my fps

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot

May not be your system, just the latency of the web/game server.
Isp and other things could be causing it too.
Unless the game is real intensive audio or you're have driver issue with
it then the sound card should'nt be cause low fps.
What OS and what ver of video driver?

Then you are up to date there...
What model MoBo and does it support 8x agp?
How does the card do in non-online games?
You may want to check into any fresh chipset/agp drivers.

No problem!

Get a copy of:"Everest Home Edition" it's free and will give you alot of info about your system.
It will help us to help you and give you more confidence in your system.
Post back once you get the info so we can find the driver and such..

WoW! TMI

too much info.... :haha:
Driver page the via 4 in 1 will have the agp drivers in it.
a link to the via web site for the
latest drivers. The HyperionPro package "Version - 500A"
You and I have the same chipset my MoBo is abit...
I hope this fixes it for you.

G'Luck

What do both of those drivers do? I am currently installing them. In the information i typed to you, were they not updated to the latest version?

Rather than going to our MoBo makers websites, I went to the chipset makers
in this case via.
I would only install one set of the hyperion drivers,
either the 500a or the 4 in 1 4.65 I think...
read throught o se which is right for you
Make sure you've done a solid back up of important thing in
window, just in case..
G'Luck

i actually installed both of them, but it made no difference in my ingame fps. How do i know my mobo supports 8x? What else could be wrong?

Man, you've done some very good updating.
I'm just not sure what is causing this low fps..
It may be a configuration of some type.
Up on guru3d there are
some good tweak guides and tools like coolbits and RivaTuner 2.0.
I'm certain others here will jump in to help,
I'm staring at my machine wondering what I'm missing to help with
this problem.

Be careful here as OC'ing can void warranties..

same problem

Your Vid card can handle 8x agp.
Your MoBo has:
AGP Controller:
AGP Version 2.00
AGP Status Enabled
AGP Device nVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP
AGP Aperture Size 64 MB
Supported AGP Speeds 1x, 2x, 4x
Current AGP Speed 4x

Yes updating can fix alot of problems but like daystar it hasn't so far.
You have a SiS chipset. They have indivdual drivers rather than a 4in1.
Go HERE to get the latest from
chipset maker. Asus tends to stay on top of newer drivers but in this case
they have'nt...
I hope this helps!
G'Luck

Umm does, the SiS AGP(GART) Driver only update my onbord video card, or does it update the chipset used by my 6200?

I think it upgrades the agp slot, not just the card or onboard,
I'm having trouble with the SiS site.
They must be getting hammered...
I'll let you know as soon as it clears up...

Hi i noticed some more problems. My fps can now hit 100 but when a guy comes at me and starts shooting, it drops to about 50 fps. My board can hit 100+ but cant stay supported.
