Lirva worm exploits Avril Lavigne's popularity

The popularity of singer Avril Lavigne has spread to the world of computer viruses. Lirva (w32.Lirva@mm), also known as Naith, is a mass-mailing worm that is UPX-compressed to a file size of 32,766 and arrives via e-mail either announcing a new Microsoft patch or offering fan access to Avril Lavigne.
....
Because this worm sends e-mail but is not considered destructive, it rates a 4 on the ZDNet Virus Meter.

Heh this is funny...Lirva is Avril backwards, FYI, BTW.

only a nitwit would think that microsoft would email anyone about a patch and actually open that email. and I dont have a clue about who avril Lavigne is so I am not interested in acess to him.

Its a chick pop singer that thinks she's punk... or something like that.
Anyway - the people that get viruses in the first place from e-mail aren't people like us really, its more the average computer user that doesnt' really think about things like that. They just see something and are like "ooh - I want to see".
