As pointed out in this article over at Digitimes (http://www.digitimes.com/NewsShow/Article.asp?datePublish=2003/05/26&pages=PR&seq=200), Intel has cut prices of the entire Celeron line having the fastest 2.4GHz CPU selling for less than $90, with the rest of the Celerys selling below that mark obviously.
From what I could observe, merchants have more or less followed the new pricing:
Celeron 2.2 GHz - $77 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=673801)
Celeron 2.0 GHz - $64 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=612097)
Generally one would say Celerons better suit low-end machines but that shouldn't be the case for well informed buyers, x-bit (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/display/20030526042244.html) also reports on AMD Athlon price cuts, putting the company on a position where they are by far a better buy than both Celerons and most Pentium 4 CPUs.
If you compare to Celeron prices above (and the huge performance advantage):
Athlon XP 2200+ - $76 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=601222)
Athlon XP 2000+ - $65 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=546157)
And if you are looking for higher performing bargains (starting from):
Athlon XP 2400+ - $86 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=648675)
Athlon XP 2600+ - $106 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=648676)
Athlon XP 2800+ - $185 (http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=688941)
