What happens in Sony Vegas...

Hello everyone..I'm new here, yes I admit it.

Does anyone have any Sony Vegas knowledge? If so, I'm wondering if you can help me.

I'm running 6.0, and I am going crazy trying to composite a title. I simply want to add a label to a piece of video, but I cannot make the background transparent. When I follow the instructions to drag a preset Sony Text (with the globally recognized grey checkerboard transparent pattern) frame up onto my video timeline, the title 'page' completely covers my video. It's anything but transparent.

I hope that made sense, if not, let me know. Any help anyone might be able to provide would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Joe

BTW -- Windows XP, Athlon 64 3200, 1 gig RAM, size 10 shoes, 256 meg ATI 9600 video card.
