This might sound a bit offensive, but... does anyone here besides me enjoy life outside of the big shiny gray box? You know, THE COMPUTER?

I guess you could be forgiven for thinking I don`t do anything else other than Techspot :p

However, I do like to do other things as well. I often go out socialising. I also like to walk my dog in the countryside and enjoy the peace and quiet.. I`m also a keen football fan and like to watch my favourite team(Liverpool) play whenever I can.

On the otherhand, I guess I do spend far too much time on the old box lol.

Regards Howard :)

I'm not always online. I mean, sometimes I program, or make web sites, or play a game, or watch a DVD. Sometimes I do graphic design and sometimes I just chat.
Sometimes I have to fix them, I do CAD, and research and learning.

So ya, not ALL my time is spent on the PC. Um, er, wait.............

Oh poop, I'm going for a walk now.......wait, where's my door? The sun.............blinding........................eyes....................

Are you doing a study or something? lol

No kids, nobody, just me and my house and my electronics.

Though when not on the PC, I play music in church, I like to play piano and drums and do recording at home. I do a little weight lifting, and weed pulling in the front yard :)

Nah, not really. I was just wondering if people at TechSpot did more than use the comp. You know, with the typical depiction of a computer person.... a.K.a A NERD!

I pretty much go to work and then come home and waste time on the computer. About 3-4 times a week I run 2 miles on a local walking/running/bike path. I've been doing a lot of geocaching (http://www.geocaching.com) on the weekends recently. So I do things away from the computer, but nothing really super exciting.

I sit in front of a lovely box all day here at work, so I don't do much as much on my computers at home anymore. I am seperated from my wife and I have a fantastic 4 year old son who I love to play with. I also lift weights, play softball, golf, and sometimes basketball. I also enjoy fishing and chillin' by a bonfire with a cold one.

It isn't by choice, believe me. But, having a range of hobbies and a good group of friends has helped considerably! You never mentioned what your interests outside of the big beige box are.

greatman05
09-08-2006, 02:24 PM
Oh, sorry...well, mostly cause I barely have any friends, and can't really go any damn where (:(), I mostly spend my time reading magazines like "Popular Science", or "U.S News". I usually watch tv, Comcast channels 29, 32, 34, 55, and 56 (Comedy Central, TV Land, TVOne, MTV, and VH1). Other than that, I don't really have a life outside the big beige box (:()

Me too :) Fortunately, my PC's case is not beige. It's silver:) But I'm happy with my PC. I don't need to get out of my house to be happy. Everything is real good, until I get a BSOD on my favorite game.

That´s when I format my PC, and when I finish, it's time to sleep again...

Well I am at college so the social events are good. :)

My college is located on the West Virginian panhandle, right smack dab on the Appalachian trail, and about a 2 minute walk from the Potomac. I go fishing 3 times a week, hike the C&O Canal, do some kayaking etc. Then when I am tired I come back to the laptop and post here lol.

Weed. Pfah, it's such a waste of time and money.

There's better things to do with yourself, or to yourself.
It doesn't get you high btw, it's a hypnotic and it lowers your blood pressure. That's why you feel wierd. High is something that real drugs do for you.

However, I agree entirely with the warning that Mictlantecuhtli has issued in this thread.

You have been warned people.

I've got a good split of time between the computer and family....I refuse to miss a moment of my kids' growing up and the company of my wife. Computers are my work and my main hobby, but as a hobby it still takes a back seat to real life (obviously, the work's a necessity).

And things have been so busy with R/L lately that my time here has been fairly minimal for real contributions. But I'll never abandon this site and you guys....I love it here. :)

This gray box is just a way of relaxing.See you all soon.

Whats you definition of cool? No offense but your only what 14 or 15?

I am not cool though.

I like UFC, pride fighting. Listen to Heavy Metal/Rock
I collect weapons (My favorite is my .45 Kimber Warrior)
I have travelled around the world and currently live in Hawaii
I was in the military and shot all sorts of weapons and met different soldiers/people from different countries
I race my mustangs when I am back home
Spending time with my family, even the inlaws

I am only 28 but I am not cool:)

It's military personel like you that keep the United States together (thank you); I'll never stop thanking people in the armed forces just to let you know

My life is balanced between my education, friends, and the big box for me. I need to spend more time on my schoolwork and less time on the computer if you get my drift. Although, I seem to accelerate in languages in my school (Ha tomado dos anos de espanol y estoy en mi tercero ano, also...Я знаю Русский). I tend to get home from school, turn on my computer, and before you know it, I'm turning it off and going to bed. On the weekends, I do more than this, and actually go out. I think it's time for a balancing of my schedule ;)

I think someone should start a thread " The definition of Cool". Just because you're a computer geek doesn't mean your not cool. I , personally, look up to you guys because of your knowledge. I doesn't matter who you hang with or how you dress. I wear jeans+t-shirts, have long hair, work construction, play in a band, have a family, and drink too much and I think you all are cool because you know more than I when it comes to PC's. What is cool?

"I know Russian"? Or "You know Russian?" That's Russian all right, but I'm not too sure about t3h first letter there.

@OP: Pfwahahamwahahawa! You guys crack me up. "Cool", umm... yeah. You peoples' definition of cool.... well, ain't cool. Anyone can be cool... well, atleast in their own way.

I'm cool for being the math+science+computers (more on the software side than hardware side, but hardware side too) man at school. Nobody doesn't not un-know me.

I think only teenagers and or metro-sexuals are the ones concerned about being cool and being overly concerned on what people think:)
