Alright folks, Im having trouble with my laptop. One day my usb decided to not work, after going through the god awful troubleshooter it made things worse. Now the sis 650 display adapter, sis 900 pci fast etherner adapter, pci modem, realtek ac97 audio and pci to usb controller are all fooked up and say they have an error 12...now im not computer savvy so if anyone could help and make it simple I'd be extremely grateful

Back everything up and reformat the drive and reinstall Windows. I think that is your best bet. Just Boot from the XP cd and follow the screen prompts to format and install XP.
