So, here's the simple question: who owns the password?
I would assume, logically, that the owners of the equipment, software, and intellectual property own the password.
I am just wondering if anyone has encountered this before, or if anyone knows anything, in general, about technology law.
We suggested sending a certified letter telling the old admin that he would be charged for the expense of us cracking the password if he refuses to turn it over (or else the hourly charge of resetting and redoing all of his setup work on the server).
Regardless, what would you do if you were in this situation?
