gmoneyjackson 12-30-2006, 08:15 PM what graphics card should i chose if im upgrading from an ati raedon 1300 series, my budget is abot 150 usd. DonNagual 12-30-2006, 08:20 PM This looks like a great deal after the rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130056 Ad 12-30-2006, 08:20 PM fenderzone1200 12-30-2006, 08:30 PM This is the exact card that I have in my system and I love it. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=100-437105-DT&cat=VCD gmoneyjackson 12-30-2006, 08:43 PM is that last one better than the one i have? DonNagual 12-30-2006, 08:44 PM I am assuming that your motherboard has a PCI-e slot (not AGP) based on your other thread. Am I correct? If so, the card that fenderzone above is recommending will not work in your system. gmoneyjackson 12-30-2006, 08:45 PM i dont know, but if it would work is it better than my 1300 series? DonNagual 12-30-2006, 08:48 PM No. Your 1300 is a better card. You need to find out if your graphics port is AGP or PCI-e before you buy a new card. Important. Download and run this: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/27-cpu-z.html and under the mainboard tab tell us what it says under graphics interface. fenderzone1200 12-30-2006, 09:01 PM Sorry about that oversight. If you are in need of a PCI card this is also a very good option for the money that I am using in my other system. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=R9250LPCI-C3&cat=VCD And here is an option that I also have experience with that is a good value if you have pci express. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=GF-7100GS-256P-WB&cat=VCD Ad 12-30-2006, 09:01 PM DonNagual 12-30-2006, 09:13 PM I think both of those cards you list above would be slower than his current card. Keep in mind that he is wanting to get a card for today's newer games (from his other thread). Games like F.E.A.R. etc. The cards you list above would have an extremely hard time running these types of games. Original posted didn't really make it clear what he wants the card for in this thread, so I can't really blame you ;) I just happened to have read his other thread. fenderzone1200 01-05-2007, 01:35 AM I see now what you are talking about. I did not completely understand the specs of the cards. I knew to look at the installed memory and the type of RAM interface, but I did not understand the difference in GPU speed and RAMDAC speed. I did some research on the matter following your post and is is quite interesting. Next time I will be able to make a much more educated choice. Thanks....... wolfram 01-05-2007, 09:23 PM i dont know, but if it would work is it better than my 1300 series? I just hope that you don't have the PCI X1300 card. If you are lucky and have PCI-E, it's gonna be easier. confused001 01-05-2007, 10:14 PM I'm wondering, gmonkeyjackson, is your card reliable? What's your card's specs? gmoneyjackson 01-06-2007, 06:45 PM hmm its got 256 mb ram.. like 600 mhz thats all i can think of |
