Cam issues

got a gateway pc
my friend that is.
installed a cam in the usb port and installed the software too.
but the pc doesn't know it there
I tried other usb but still the same problem
the mouse has a usb too that work
in all the usb
now this is the second cam
the first one had the same problem
returned it thinking it was defective.
guess that not the case.
logic cam is what she has now.
In the control panel show no cam
at system or the scanner and imaging areas
I do have a usb error in the system ( hardware )
not sure were to go with this
I uninstalled the error in the system control panel
and I disable it too
nothing works.
Please help.

The USB could be the entire cause of the problems. Can you give us more details.

HI raybay what is it that your looking for more or less
something in the control panel ?
i can not get into the bios also
there is 3 usb port
and in the control panel there a error in the usb also.
guess your right too.
i have to get in to the pc tommorrow cause there sleeping now

You may have better luck if you physically remove or disconnect all extra components such as audio, and so on.
If you have a floppy drive in that machine, I would disconnect the hard drive and all extra memory modules. Then boot to an MS-Dos or Windows 98 floppy... Otherwise, I would boot to a CD... the secret is to boot to something simple that works, then begin looking at the BIOS and other parts of the current install.
